Frans Lanting's "Bay of Life" Exhibit at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History

The Bay of Life Exhibit by Frans Lanting and Chris Eckstrom at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History is coming to a close, so we wanted to share one final glimpse. From wind to whales, and land to sea, Frans and Chris provide a unified view of the beauty and biodiversity of Monterey Bay. It features images by Frans Lanting along with historical photographs from the era of exploitation, contemporary images of the fabulous underwater realms of Monterey Bay, maps, and other interpretive materials.

TeamBay recently had the privilege of attending a special employee event at the gallery, and it was a pleasure to see our handcrafted work out in the wild! We produced over 60 Framed Prints, featuring Epson Exhibition Fiber Fine Art Paper, our Black Box Frame, and Single White Mat for each piece.

.

Especially after this winter's storms in the Northern California region, a light was shed on the important river systems affected, which are an essential part of the natural and environmental history of the Monterey Bay. This is one example of what Frans and Chris raise awareness and advocate for, in an effort toward a more sustainable future for the Bay of Life as a whole.

For those who can attend in person, Frans and Chris are hosting a final event on Sunday April 30 from 2:00 - 6:00pm. They will do a guided tour of the show, and one lucky attendee will be eligible to win a fine art print of one of the images in the exhibition. In order to be eligible, you need to RSVP for the event on Eventbrite and be there in person.

They also plan to produce a virtual tour of the exhibit for those who can't join us for this event. A link to the recording will be posted on www.lanting.com and https://bayoflife.net.

As part of the Bay of Life Project, Frans and Chris have developed a partnership with Santa Cruz METRO for an innovative campaign called “One Ride at a Time” that is designed to raise a substantial amount of money for local nonprofits while showcasing the environmental benefits of public transit. More than two dozen buses are decorated with Frans's images from Bay of Life as an eye-catching expression of the campaign. The first six buses are currently

in service and more will get rolled out later this year.

A portion of the proceeds from rides on METRO buses over the next two years will be donated to the Bay of Life Fund for distribution to local environmental nonprofits associated with the Bay of Life Project.

Although the exhibition is leaving the Santa Cruz MAH, there are other ways you can keep connected. A selection of images from the Bay of Life are available as limited edition fine art prints, and Frans has curated a beautiful Bay of Life photo book. Click here for details.

Sincere thanks to Frans for choosing Bay Photo as his print provider.

"Bay Photo has been my trusted partner in the community for decades."
- Frans Lanting
