Did you know you can send film to us for processing, scanning and printing? And for us this is not a fad, because we have been processing film NON-STOP since 1976. So, what’s new? 🥁 ...A brand new website to showcase all the film services we provide on a daily basis! We are now expanding our offerings to all our customers outside of our hometown of Santa Cruz, CA.
One of our Santa Cruz locations, on Park Ave, houses the Bay Photo Film team. Our techs there develop hundreds and hundreds of rolls of film each week and we treat every roll as if it’s one of our own. We know film shooters are dedicated and interested in the process, so here’s a quick run-through...
We develop all color film on Noritsu machines - developing machines that are reliable and maintain an accurate temperature throughout the day. Each morning before any film is processed, the machines are checked to make sure all of the mechanics and chemicals are functioning correctly.
After developing your film, a color corrector will scan the film using one of our Noritsu HS-1800 scanners, legendary for showcasing the detail and tonality of the film stocks that we all love to shoot. We also implement instructions from our customers about personal preferences pertaining to contrast, saturation and brightness.
After scanning the film, each roll gets a final quality check where we rotate your files to the correct orientation, and look for any camera or film issues that we may want to let you know about. If you ordered any prints, we will print them on high quality silver halide photographic paper and pack them up with your negatives. When your order is complete, you’ll receive a download link to access your scans and we’ll send your negatives back to you in the mail.
We cherish and respect the analog way of creating art - in the camera, on film. Our entire team is aware of the importance of seeing our digital world in a different way. We care and we are here for you!
