For many photographers, the art of capturing moments is more than just a profession - it's a way of life. Photography can become intertwined with who you are, influencing how you experience the world around you. Tanner Thibert describes his own creative journey, and how printing can sustain inspiration for photographers. Scroll on to learn more.
Photography as a Lifestyle
"Shooting in the water for me is really more of a lifestyle than it is just about getting a certain image," Tanner explains. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, where surf spots are rare and hidden, Tanner has embraced the adventure of his work, and the inspiration from fellow surfers, photographers and filmmakers he collaborates with along the way.
Every creative endeavor he undertakes is rooted in the experiences he shares with others. "I'm really inspired by the people that I meet - the surfers, the other photographers, and filmmakers. It's more than just the project or image; it’s an experience that I get to live." he says. This reflects the lifestyle that many photographers adopt, where the camera becomes an extension of the self, and every click of the shutter is a connection to the world around them.
Yet, even with photography as a lifestyle, staying inspired can sometimes be a challenge.
Printing to Stay Inspired
Constantly chasing the next shot or project can lead to creative burnout. That’s why Tanner emphasizes the importance of taking the work a step further - by printing your images.
"Every time I've gotten something printed and delivered, I see that photo in a whole different way and connect with it. It gives me appreciation for my own journey." - Tanner Thibert
Printing your work provides tangible reminders of your creative passion and dedication, something that digital files on a screen can never fully replicate. The process of transforming your photographs into physical prints brings a sense of fulfillment and can reignite the inspiration that drives your work forward.
"There's an energy captured within a print," Tanner says. "That's what really makes your work timeless, at least for yourself to be able to enjoy years down the line." - Tanner Thibert
For photographers who live and breathe their craft, printing is a way to maintain that deep connection to their work. It’s a moment to pause, appreciate the effort and experiences that went into each shot, and keep the creative fire burning.
At Bay Photo, we understand the importance of this process, offering high-quality print solutions that allow you to turn your digital images into lasting art. Whether you’re printing for your own collection, for clients, or to simply reignite your passion, our wide range of print products makes it easy to create something meaningful.
By turning your photography into a physical print, you're preserving not only the image but also the inspiration that brought it to life.
