Woman in black shirt holds a camera and uses a laptop. Text below reads "Celebrating Women in Photography." Mood is professional.

Photography has a way of getting under your skin - in the best way. What starts as curiosity (a borrowed camera, a darkroom class, a single image that turns out better than expected) quickly becomes something deeper.

For the women who have made photography their profession, that spark grows into a lasting commitment. It shows up in the care they bring to every session, every edit, and every finished piece they deliver to a client.

We're shining a light on the women in this industry who inspire us every day - including the ones right here at Bay Photo.

The Women of TeamBay

When you place an order with Bay Photo, real people handle it. People who care about color accuracy, print quality, and wheth er the final product does justice to the image a photographer worked hard to create. Many of those people are women who came to this industry through a love of photography and art - and who have built long, skilled careers here because of it.

We asked some of them to share a little about their experience. Here's what they said.

Portrait of Christie Boxill

Christie Boxill came to Bay Photo as a photography student. She works in marketing and business development today, but the photographer's instinct she arrived with has never left. She still thinks first about the image - about what it's trying to say, and what product will help it say it best.

"Over the decades, I’ve seen firsthand how Bay Photo stays true to its mission of helping photographers succeed, while always pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in print."

Portrait of Avis Rose

Avis Rose has a background in fine art and graphic design. Before joining Bay Photo's digital imaging team, she worked on interactive comics for Marvel, DC Comics, and Fox Children's Production, which tells you something about the level of visual precision she brings to her work.

"Bay Photo is a growing, cutting-edge company with a long history of innovative photographic printing and photo finishing services. I am honored to be a part of and contributing to its success. I have loved working with so many wonderful and talented colleagues."

Portrait of Sarah Bergeron

Sarah Bergeron's path to Bay Photo started with a cross-country road trip, a camera, and a determination to photograph everything in sight. She eventually landed in Santa Cruz, walked into Bay Photo, and never left. Over the years, she has worked in nearly every corner of the business - customer service, purchasing, product development, tradeshows, sales, analytics, and production. Ask her what she loves most, and she doesn't hesitate.

"What I've enjoyed most about working for Bay Photo is the people! My co-workers are my family and friends. Many of our customers and vendors have become some of my best friends."

Portrait of Maria Canales

Maria Canales came to Bay Photo because a friend talked about the work with so much enthusiasm that she had to see it for herself. She found a home in print production. She has been part of every major shift the industry has seen, including the transition from film to digital processing.

"Being with one of the first labs to transform from optical and film development to digital gave me the opportunity to learn to convert negatives to digital files."

Tiffanie Morrasy has always been drawn to beautiful things. She came to Bay Photo through a love of art, interior design, and creating - and has spent her career building a customer service team that treats every interaction with genuine care. Through significant company growth, that culture of warmth and collaboration has never wavered.

"Since I started at Bay Photo, we've experienced remarkable growth. Even so, the company culture and our passion for what we do have remained constant. Everyone here loves their work and enjoys collaborating. It's a truly wonderful team to be a part of."

"II enjoy working with the many creative individuals here at Bay Photo. It is truly a pleasure to collaborate with such a talented team. I am also incredibly proud to be a part of the Albums Department. Having been here for almost 18 years, it has been rewarding to witness our growth and the progress we have made together over nearly two decades."

Portrait of Mallory Weatherby

Mallory Weatherby's relationship with photography started early - her mom's old Nikon FE, a high school darkroom, and the kind of curiosity that doesn't let go. She went on to study photography and business at UC Santa Cruz, where she was actually a Bay Photo customer herself, sending in film for processing. After working in photo communications for a nonprofit and second-shooting for a local wedding photographer, she joined the Bay Photo team as a machine operator.

"I'm fortunate to have formed such special connections with my colleagues over the years, and am grateful to work in a creative role within a creative industry. It's easy to stay inspired when I'm surrounded by the skill and talent of not only TeamBay, but such amazing photographers and artists."

Portrait of Angie Dunstan Egan

Angie Dunstan Egan came to photography through high school darkroom classes and never fully left it behind. She took a role in the photography industry in her early twenties, eventually found her way to Bay Photo, and has been here ever since.

"Having spent the majority of my adult working years at Bay, I can undoubtedly say that I have grown up here, both personally and professionally. There is an impressively long list of people in this lab who have worked alongside each other for over a decade. We are truly like a family - and that is by far the most enjoyable part of my job."

Portrait of Rebekah Futhey

Rebekah Futhey has always loved photography, picking it up through classes over the years. She came to Bay Photo through a connection at a previous job - someone who spoke about the work with enough enthusiasm that it seemed worth seeing for herself. What she found was a place that runs on creative energy.

"There's an incredible amount of creativity that flows through this place. From the art that comes in, to the people that work here, and the ideas they contribute. It can be a really inspiring place."

The Women Photographers We're Proud to Serve

A woman at Bay Photo working on albums, smiling. Rolls of colorful paper surround her in a well-lit workspace.

The Bay Photo community stretches far beyond our lab facilities. It includes portrait photographers, wedding photographers, landscape photographers, and fine artists across the country and worldwide - people who have built real businesses around work they genuinely love, and who hold themselves to a standard their clients can feel.

That dedication deserves a print lab that matches it. When a photographer sends us a file, they're trusting us with something they've already invested their best work into. Our job is to make sure the final product reflects that - in the color, the quality, and the consistency of every order that leaves the building. Whether it's a Fine Art Print, a Pacific Album, or a MetalPrint headed for a living room wall, the standard doesn't change. The care doesn't either.

We're proud to serve photographers who take their craft this seriously. And we're proud that the ALL the women on our team play such a key role in how we keep that promise every day.

What International Women's Day Means to Us

Person in a leather jacket with a camera on a tripod, holding a coffee cup. Backpack on shoulder. Dark, moody background.

The women in this industry - both the ones photographing and the ones behind the prints - do extraordinary work. They bring skill, dedication, and a real passion for what they create.

At Bay Photo, we are proud of TeamBay's women who help shape our culture and grow our business everyday. And we're proud to serve the women photographers in our community who trust us with their most important work.

To every photographer and artist in the Bay Photo family - thank you. Today and every day, we're grateful you're here.

Happy International Women's Day. - From everyone at TeamBay
