Exploring the Rich Heritage of Mongolia Through MetalPrints

Updated: Apr 8

A Collaboration with McKay Photography Academy and the Mongolian Landscape Photography Society

"Mongolia Captured": An Exhibit of Mongolia on Bay Photo MetalPrints

At Bay Photo, we are fortunate to play a pivotal role in capturing and conveying profound moments through print, while also fostering a sense of community through collaboration with talented photographers. We are proud to have collaborated with esteemed partners including the Ambassador of Mongolia to the United States, the Mongolian Landscape Photography Society, and McKay Photography Academy and Tours. Together, we orchestrated the remarkable exhibition "Mongolia Captured" at the Embassy of Mongolia in Washington DC.

"Mongolia Captured": An Exhibit of Mongolia on Bay Photo MetalPrints

This impactful event was two years in the making, stemming from the day that David McKay met with Ambassador Batbayar about capturing and sharing the vibrant essence of Mongolian culture through photography.

Mongolian Culture on MetalPrints

The exhibition was a resounding success, fulfilling the mission of bringing Mongolia's cultural heritage to life. With 34 MetalPrints printed exclusively by Bay Photo on display, the exhibition showcased David and Ally McKay's photojournalistic view of Mongolia, shot while on a photography tour they led in the summer of 2022. David's selection of the Mid-Gloss surface for the exhibited MetalPrints brilliantly illuminated the entire series, minimizing glare from the gallery lighting while enhancing the colors and depth with stunning vibrancy. Sizes ranged across 16x30", 20x30", and 24x30", and David's choice of the Float Mount Hanger made for quick and easy installation. Also included was a guestbook for attendees to sign (Bay Photo's BayBook, with hinged lay-flat pages).

The event was attended by a diverse array of guests, including Mongolian photographers, dignitaries from both the DC area and Mongolia, and several other esteemed individuals. The evening was elevated by the enchanting sounds of traditional Mongolian music, creating an atmosphere that truly embraced multiculturalism.

Plans are already underway to showcase the exhibition in San Francisco, Chicago, and New York.

Cultural Exchange and Understanding

As photographers, Ally and David McKay and their team pour their hearts into crafting stunning and unique images. They take immense pride in the art they bring to life through prints at Bay Photo. Their passion extends beyond the lens. They are also fervent educators, cherishing the opportunity to share our knowledge and passion for photography.

The McKays and their team are deeply passionate about helping their guests perceive the world in a more profound way. The honor of guiding people to distant corners of the globe, witnessing breathtaking landscapes, encountering exotic wildlife, experiencing diverse cultures, and forming connections with the people they meet is unparalleled. The bonds they form, and the friendships forged around the globe are a testament to this.
